American Transportation (also operating as Bus American) respects your privacy. This notice explains what information we collect through our online booking and quote platform at busamerican.com, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

When you request a quote or book transportation, we collect your name, email address, phone number, pickup, destination and stop addresses, trip dates and times, passenger/guest count, organization name, and trip details. Standard technical data such as IP address and browser type is collected to operate and secure the site, and we use Google Maps and reCAPTCHA to power the booking form.

Payment information: Credit and debit card details are entered directly with our PCI-compliant payment processor and are not stored on our systems. We retain only a transaction reference and amount.

How we use your information

To prepare quotes, arrange and dispatch transportation, communicate with you about your trip, process payment, and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

How we share your information

We share information only with the service providers necessary to deliver the service, including our payment processor (Freedom Merchants), website host (HostGator), email provider (Google Workspace), mapping provider (Google Maps), bot-protection provider (Google reCAPTCHA), and fleet/dispatch provider (Samsara). We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information to law enforcement only pursuant to valid legal process.

Data retention

We retain booking and quote records only as long as necessary for business, accounting, and legal purposes, and then delete or anonymize them.

Security

We protect your information with HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, multi-factor authentication on administrative access, least-privilege access controls, network firewalls, and encrypted off-site backups.

Your privacy rights (California residents)

If you are a California resident, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may confirm that we do not sell it (we do not). To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

Institutional and education bookings

Where trips are booked on behalf of an educational institution or organization, any individual information provided is used solely to fulfill that booking and is handled in accordance with our agreement with that institution and applicable law.
